The weather is slowly warming up and you know what that means! It’s the season of spring cleaning!
View our 7 tips below to spring clean your home’s exterior.
Wash Windows and Screens
A squeegee and bucket of window wash will make quick work of cleaning the exterior of your windows. The clean windows will make your living space seem more open and bright.
Removing screens and gently cleaning with a scrub brush and warm, soapy water will improve your view and smells extra fresh when you open your windows to enjoy the spring weather. Remember to remove and replace carefully so as not to bend the screens.
Clean Up Landscaping
An inviting house starts with tidy curb appeal. Do some trimming (it’s great exercise), or hire a pro to clean up your yard and remove excess leaves that have fallen during the cooler months. You’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes.
Add Solar Lights
Solar lights are more popular than ever and make lighting up your outdoor spaces a breeze. Just pick up a box set of your favorite design at your local home improvement store, follow the easy assembly directions and add to your desired areas. Allow a day or so for sunny charging and enjoy your new outdoor ambience. Do note that cloudy or rainy weather can affect the performance of solar lights.
Motion Sensor Lights
Adding motion sensor lights can provide extra light on walkways for night time safety. They also provide a deterrant to possible trespassers who shouldn’t be on your property at night. A handyman or a handy significant other can install these quickly and easily.
Clean Patio Furniture
Patio furniture gets a bit neglected during winter months. Wipe down metal surfaces with a damp cloth, or put on a coat of teak oil for wood furniture. Your furniture will reward you with a welcoming environment to enjoy the fabulous spring weather and give you more entertaining space.
Check your cushions for wear as well. Having old, worn cushions recovered or replaced can brighten up your outdoor space and give your patio an entirely new look.
Spruce Up Lanterns and Umbrella Bases
Have dated or rusty umbrella bases and lanterns that have seen better days? Not to worry. Go shopping at your local Home Depot or Lowes and select you favorite Metal Rustoleum finish. Cover any unintended areas or take the lantern, item apart as needed. Make sure to put down paper or a flattened box to protect the ground area. Add a fresh coat of Rustoleum per the directions and with a little drying time, your patio accessories will look brand new!
Add Some Color
Last, but not least, get a few new flowers for those empty flower pots. The colors will turn your outdoor living area into a relaxing and beautiful sanctuary.
