oven cleaning

We all want to do what we can to keep our home and all of the appliances within it looking their best, including the oven and microwave. There are so many products on the market today that we can buy in order to clean our ovens and microwaves, but many of these products contain harmful chemicals.

If you are looking for ways to clean these appliances with products that are natural and can be found in just about any household, read on.

A Simple Lemon

The first trick is to use a lemon in order to clean your microwave. It is not only a natural way to clean, but is also extremely easy to do.

First, you will need to take a microwave safe bowl and put 1/2 cup of water in it. Next, you will take a lemon, cut it in half, and squeeze the juice from the lemon into the water. Put the lemon halves in the water after squeezing the juice out. Then, the bowl of water and lemon should be put into the microwave and microwaved for three minutes on high power.

After the three minutes are up, leave the microwave door closed and allow the bowl to sit in the microwave for an additional five minutes. This will allow the steam in the microwave to loosen up any stuck on food. Finally, you will remove the bowl and wipe out the entire inside of the microwave. If there are any stubborn stains or stuck on food, dip a cloth in the lemon water and scrub until the stain comes clean.

Water and Vinegar

This second trick can easily be done in either the oven or the microwave. When cleaning the oven, you will first want to wipe out any kind of debris. Then fill a metal baking dish with water and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Set the oven to 350 degrees, and give the water time to bubble and create a good amount of steam in the oven. Next, you will turn the oven off, open the door and spray the inside of the oven with a vinegar/water solution. Close the door and allow the oven to sit for approximately 30 minutes. Once the oven has cooled down enough to be touched, everything should be wiped down.

When using this trick in the microwave, you will want to use a microwave safe bowl and fill it with water adding 1/2 cup of vinegar. Microwave on high for three minutes, then leave the door closed and leave it sit for five minutes. You can then wipe the microwave down.
